Yishan Duan (Jiaxin Duan, born 1999) is a Chinese-born, London-based artist whose practice encompasses performance, film, photography, and sculptural installations. Her work focuses on the relationship between women and the environment, exploring themes of resistance, embodiment, and self-care. Duan completed a BA in Ceramic Design at Central Saint Martins in 2021.
Duan’s work celebrates nature and women while reflecting on contemporary social and environmental issues. Her work is marked by visual impact and intellectual depth, encourage viewers to contemplate critical topics, such as gender equality and environmental protection, encouraging a greater awareness and appreciation of the intricate connections that shape and connect our world.
Duan’s work has been exhibited at Offprint Tate Modern, Lethaby gallery, CSM Museum & Study Collection in London, the National Memorial Arboretum in Burton, and 798CUBE in Beijing.
